Heartbroken over a house - but thank heavens for Google!

It is only our second week house-hunting - we are looking to buy while prices and interest rates are down. We couldn't believe our luck when we saw a cosy house with fab garden and pool, and then our offer was accepted, so exciting - a place for Milo & Jude to have a great childhood!!

Then we found out that the house was 'high risk' for flooding. The street (and this house in particular) is prone to flooding from the lagoon, and the address has been identified as an area where "adults could not safely wade through the water to escape". The Real Estate agent kept quoting that there's a 1/100 chance of that occurring, but our friend Google told a different story - 4 instances of flooding in the last 30 years. Totally gutted. Here's a photo we found on Google showing how bad the flooding was in 1998 at the RSL car park a few doors up (there shouldn't be any water at all, let alone almost fully submerged cars)...

... !!! Thanks to the internet, we may not have known how bad it can be if left to real estates and solicitors.

There are quite a few elevated houses on the same street. Ironically, the residents in those houses don't worry about flooding but fire - if they had a fire then the fire engine couldn't get up to them.

I guess the house hunt continues - I hope we find something else which I love as much as I did that one.
